Participatory Design Project

Consulted with National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity (NAPE) to facilitate a participatory design process with the organization’s student community and staff. Working along side Francois Odenthal-Cruz a NAPE Peer Leader and Educator and NAPE staff member Kayla Santana-Linares, Professional Development Manager, designs were co-created for the 2024 Equity Leadership Academy Report and User Guide. The entire design was inspired by Francois poem titled “2 Words I Don’t Know Yet”

It is always an honor to engage community in the design process from start to finish, facilitating a unique approach towards design decisions, style creation, and an emotional esthetic that is inclusive, inspiring, and empowering.

Community-Based Participatory Design Consulting

It all begins with community.

  • Working with NAPE staff to identify members from their community to serve as co-designers.

  • Facilitating meetings to inform, educate, and share the design thinking process.

  • Creating a comfortable and inclusive environment that encourages participants to engage in expressing their perspectives and theme choices.

  • Conducting design workshops so community participants can generate sketches for design layouts, create color palettes, and make font selections.

  • Designing evaluation a feedback sessions to assure that all ideas and thoughts were captured and included in the final design.
